Using Data to Make the Case
It's increasingly a data-driven world out there and communications is no exception. Over the fall the PublicVoice founders Douglas Gould and Jennifer Hahn have led a series of field-building discussions on making data work.
Doug and Jennifer have worked recently with a range of organizations developing strategies that leverage support for communications that motivate audiences and mobilize activists.
- In September 2011, Doug presented "When Bad Data Happens to Good People" at the Community Research Partners' Data Driven '11 Conference. He focused on what steps nonprofit organizations need to take to communicate about bad data and how to use negative information to engage new constituents.
- In November 2011, Jennifer provided a keynote address on Making the Case for College at the National College Transitions Network's Effective Transitions in Adult Education Conference 2011. She also focused on how higher education advocates need to judiciously leverage key data points to engage the adult education field without overwhelming lay people and adult students themselves.
